According to the criminal complaint, the officer was on patrol near 58th and Willard when he spotted an orange Infiniti speeding and turned on his lights and sirens for a traffic stop. The Infiniti stopped briefly but sped off into traffic, cutting off another car and narrowly missing a pedestrian before the officer could speak to the driver.

According to the complaint, the Infiniti continued on a police chase that spanned more than three and a half miles around the north side of the city. The top speed was estimated at 109 miles per hour, and during the chase, the Infiniti ran a red light, entered a curb and drove between other cars.

Prosecutors said the Infiniti lost control while turning near 91st Street and Mill. He crashed into a street lamp, which then fell and hit a kindergarten minibus with “small children” in it. Several other vehicles were also hit and the driver of the Infiniti, identified as Medlock, got out and ran.

A citizen told police he saw a suspect matching the driver’s description run into a nearby backyard, the complaint said, several blocks from the crash scene. Officers went there and found Medlock running and jumping fences, removing his shirt and reaching into his pockets before trying to hide behind a house.

Police ordered Medlock to stop running, but the complaint says he did not comply and tore off his arm when the officer caught and attempted to handcuff him.

According to court documents, Medlock was listed as the registered owner of the Infiniti. A search of the Infiniti turned up several bags of THC “in plain sight”, as well as two digital scales and boxes for clear plastic bags. A gun was found in the glove compartment.
