A man was seriously injured in a rear-end crash Thursday in Crawford County

CHEROKEE, Kan. (WIBW) – One person was seriously injured Thursday afternoon in a rear-end crash in southeast Kansas’ Crawford County, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 4:45 p.m. Thursday north of the intersection of K-7 and US-400. The site was on the southwest side of Cherokee, about 6 miles southwest of Pittsburgh.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 1992 Ford pickup truck was traveling north on K-7 when it stopped to make a left turn.

The truck was then rear-ended by a 2004 Chevrolet pickup, also traveling northbound on K-7.

A passenger in a Ford pickup that was rear-ended was seriously injured in the crash, authorities said. The passenger, Felix Baldemar-Gomez, 36, of Pittsburgh, was taken to Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, for treatment of his injuries. Baldemar-Gomez was wearing a seat belt, troopers said.

The driver of the Ford pickup, Francisco J. Molina-Medrano, 37, of Pittsburgh, was not injured, according to reports. Patrolmen said Molina-Medrano was wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the Chevrolet pickup, 22-year-old Davis G. Davenport of Farlington, was not injured, according to reports. Patrolmen said Davenport, who was alone in the truck, was wearing a seat belt.
