Staffordshire flat fire: Fire investigators have released new information about the cause of the explosion

Fire brigades rushed to the two-story apartment on Chase Road at around 9.10pm on Monday (October 28) after an internal explosion.

A man in his 20s suffered serious burns and was taken to hospital, where he remained in critical condition on Friday.

Five other apartments were evacuated, but no one else was injured, the spokesman said Staffordshire Police said

Employees of the Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service reported the causes of the explosion in the Burntwood apartment

Residents living on Chase Road described the sound “loud bangs” and cries for help from inside the apartment when the explosion happened.

A number of shops located below the apartment building where the explosion occurred were closed on Tuesday morning, but later reopened.
