Guernsey Medical Specialist Group fined for data error

Dr Steve Evans, chairman of MSG, which is contracted to provide secondary care in Guernsey, said: “We have co-operated fully with the investigation process throughout and have come to an enforcement decision.

“This issue arose due to a lack of clarity in the provision of our data processing agreement with HSC.

“We understand that it is important for data subjects to receive information in a timely manner and we have already apologized to concerned parents for the uncertainty.”

He added that this is something that the MSG is “taking forward now with the help of the HSC so that there is a clear position going forward”.

“We would like to reassure Islanders that this was not a matter of patient privacy and we remain committed to the highest standards of patient protection.”
