BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (WBRC) – Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service was busy with multiple fires on Friday morning, some of which started at the same time.

Four fires broke out on Eastview Boulevard, Camellia Lane, Sunrise Lane and an apartment complex on Gadsden Highway.

BFRS officials said when they arrived at the scene on Eastview Boulevard, a vehicle and the front of a home were on fire.

The fire chief is not sure if the fire started in a car at the home.

As of 4:10 a.m., the vehicle was still burning due to gas in the interior, but officials said it was under control.

Two people were in the house at the time of the fire, but they were able to get out safely.

Less than a mile away on Camellia Lane, firefighters were battling another house fire with a burning vehicle.

Officials say about 75 percent of the home was damaged by fire, mostly in the garage and front of the house. Upon arrival, firefighters managed to quickly extinguish the fire.

The resident had already evacuated the house before the firefighters arrived and was on the opposite side of the street with her neighbors.

When WBRC photographers arrived at the scene of the fire on Sunrise Lane, firefighters had already extinguished the fire.

There is currently no further information on this.

Finally, firefighters responded to a call at the Ascott Apartments on Gadsden Highway where they found a large dumpster fire.

Two cars were left to extinguish the fire.

At the scene of the Camellia Lane fire, officials said having multiple fires going at once takes a toll on the system, but the way they’re set up to be able to pull people from other areas, they’ve been able to handle it pretty easily.
