One person died in a major fire at a vegetable oil factory near the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, as about 20 fire trucks tried to contain the blaze, the local fire department said on Friday.

Footage from Metro TV showed large flames and plumes of black smoke coming from a building at the center of the complex in Bekas, a city on the eastern outskirts of Jakarta. The message says that the roads around the factory are closed.

Harianto, a firefighter who was at the factory complex, told Reuters that one person was found dead at the scene.

The plant is run by PT Primus Sanus Cooking Oil Industrial (Priscolin), Maswa, an employee of the local fire department, told Reuters.
