Law enforcement agencies are looking for a suspect in a murder in Chapin

CHAPIN, S.C. (WIS) – The Chapin Police Department, in cooperation with several law enforcement partners, is conducting an active search in and around the Chapin area for 45-year-old Nicholas Wayne Hamlett, who is actively wanted for murder.

Hamlet is reported to be in the Chapin area and is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Law enforcement agencies were deployed throughout the city of Chapin Thursday night, including multiple officers, helicopters and K-9s. Police say they have not yet found the suspect.

Police say they will continue to circulate and patrol throughout the night. They say they will deploy other resources as soon as more information on his whereabouts becomes available. Chapin Police advise everyone to lock their doors tonight and call 911 for any suspicious activity.

Hamlet is reported to be in the Chapin area and is believed to be armed and dangerous.

If you see someone matching Hamlett’s description, authorities say to stay away from them and call 911 immediately.
