Road rage in Bengaluru? A man attacked a family in a car, injured a 5-year-old child

BENGALURU: A five-year-old boy sustained injuries on his head after a miscreant smashed the window glass of his car with a stone. Chuodasandrasoutheast bengaluru wednesday night.
While the boy’s father claimed he did not know why the attack took place, the driver, who was arrested by police, said the fight broke out after the car driven by the boy’s father rammed a parked car and sped off without stopping.
Following a complaint by the injured boy’s father, Anup George of Chikkanayakanahalli, an employee of a private company, the Parappana Agrahara police arrested 23-year-old Krishna Murthy of Choodasandra, on whose bike the assailant had come. He was detained for aiding the attacker.
According to George, he was returning home with his wife and two minor children when two unknown drivers blocked his car at 9:30 p.m. “They asked with gestures to lower the window and get out of the car. When I refused and moved the car, they broke the back window with a stone. My son was injured, he was treated at the hospital,” he said.
George said that after the stone was thrown, he and his wife got out of the car to catch the miscreants. “But we noticed that my son was injured and decided to take him to the hospital first. By that time, the attackers had fled,” he said.
George told TOI that he did not know why the attack took place. “They suddenly appeared and blocked my car before asking me to get out,” he said.
Meanwhile, police quoted Krishna Murthy as saying that George’s car rammed into a parked car and he sped away. The owner of the parked car tried to stop it and demand compensation for the damage.
“According to Krishna Murthy, he was on his way home when a stranger stopped him and asked for a ride, saying that a car had rammed his car and he needed to stop it. Accordingly, Krishna Murthy was riding a bicycle with a stranger on the back seat and “Spotting the car after a short distance, the driver asked the complainant to lower the windows or get out of the car so that they could talk, and the man again broke the window with a stone,” the police said. The police said, that Krishna Murthy claimed that the rider took to his heels and he sped away on his two-wheeler after the attack.
George, however, told TOI that he never rammed the vehicle. Police said they could verify the claim after searching for the attacker and the car’s owner, who is now at large. “Just last night we were asking George to file a complaint. However, this morning we sent a senior police inspector to his home to take a statement,” the officer said.
