Akron cop pleads guilty in child pornography case

WARRENOhio (WJW) – A district police officer He faces up to 65 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple counts of possession of child pornography.

Jeffrey Parker, 34, of Mineral Ridge, was arrested at August 2024.

According to a press release, the case began after the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation traced a photo of a nude 4-year-old girl in the area to Parker’s account.

Parker was also convicted of taking pictures of himself in the nude with young children.

On Thursday, he pleaded guilty to the following charges:

  • Three counts of indulging in sexually explicit materials involving minors

  • Three counts against unlawful use of minors in nudity-oriented material

  • One charge of gross sexual assault

  • One count of indulging in indecency with a minor

Parker used to introduce a plead not guilty in this case, but reversed his position before the jury.

He has been on deferred paid leave from the Akron Police Department since his arrest in August.

Parker has been with the department for four years.

His sentencing is scheduled for November 26 after he passes probation.

Parker faces up to 65 years in prison and will be registered as a Level 2 sex offender when he is released from prison.

Parker remains in the Trumbull County Jail on $1 million bail.
