Albert Lea’s former adviser pleaded guilty to having sex with a student

ALBERT LEE, Minn. (KTTC) – Richard John Polley, 35, of Albert Lea, pleaded guilty Thursday to fourth-degree sexual assault.

According to court documents, In January 2022, Polly had sex with a 17-year-old student after they became close through his high school guidance counselor duties before they became friends on Snapchat.

The plea comes after a mistrial in September.

Polly’s sentencing is scheduled for January 29, 2025.
