A man has been sentenced for a crash that killed a teenager on Grand Isle

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) – A Grand Island man is headed to prison for a fatal crash nearly a year ago.

Quentin Scrogin, 20, was arraigned Wednesday in Hall County District Court on felony counts of vehicular homicide, felony vehicular homicide and willful reckless driving, both felonies.

Judge Patrick Lee imposed eight to 20 years on the MVH charge. His license will also be suspended for 15 years. He also received time and fines on the other charges, but they will run concurrently with the felony sentence.

Skrogin begged no contest to three charges. As part of this agreement, two felonies of grievous bodily harm were dismissed.

The charges stem from a fatal crash at the intersection of Shaupsville and Wildwood in the early morning hours of Nov. 16. It is about three miles southwest of Alda.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office responded to an early morning crash at the intersection of Schaupsville and Wildwood.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said the SUV driven by Scrogin was northbound on Schaupsville Road when Scrogin lost control and the vehicle overturned. There were five people in the car. Brennan Villatoro, 18, and another passenger ejected.

Skrogin and the other three passengers were taken to CHI Health St. Francis for the treatment of injuries.
