A fired Disney employee allegedly hacked the company’s system to change allergen information on menus

(CNN) — A former Disney employee is accused of hacking the company’s servers to change menus with false information.

According to a federal criminal complaint filed in Florida, Michael Scheuer falsified allergen information and printed profanity.

Disney is not named in the complaint, but an attorney representing the suspect in the case confirmed to CNN that Disney is the company involved.

The complaint says Scheuer was a menu production manager at Disney but was fired in June for misconduct.

Scheuer is also accused of using a bot to attempt to log in more than 100,000 times to at least 14 Disney employee accounts, effectively locking them out of the system.

Scheuer denied any wrongdoing and said Disney “tried to frame him.”

Scheuer’s attorney says his client has a “mental disability” that caused the panic attack at work that led to his firing.

The complaint alleges that Scheuer’s months-long cyberattack cost Disney at least $150,000.
