Second lockdown in two days lifted at Champaign Elementary

CHAMPAIGN — For the second day in a row, Booker T. Washington STEAM Academy in Champaign was placed on soft lockdown Thursday “due to police activity in the area,” district spokeswoman Stacey Moore told The News-Gazette.

“The release has been delayed until we receive clearance from CPD,” Moore said Thursday.

It happened around 4 p.m. when the lockdown was lifted.
