Woman crashes multiple vehicles in high-speed chase that ends in Mississippi, Mobile police say

MOBILE, Alabama (WALA) – A 26-year-old Louisiana woman is in custody after allegedly crashing into several vehicles while leading Mobile police on a high-speed chase that ended in Mississippi this afternoon.

The pursuit began on Airport Boulevard. The woman, later identified as Kathleen Johnson of Louisiana, damaged at least two vehicles at UJ Chevrolet, according to the Mobile Police Department. During the pursuit, Johnson’s vehicle struck at least two other vehicles, authorities said.

Speeds were reported to reach 100 mph, and the truck Johnson was driving lost one of its front tires during the pursuit.

The chase ended right across the state line in Mississippi near Tanner Williams Road and Orso Road, MPD said.

Johnson will be booked into the Mobile County Jail later this afternoon on charges of felony evading, trafficking in methamphetamine and two counts of leaving the scene of an accident, police said. Additional charges are likely, MPD said.
