The boy’s mother, Katrina Baur, pleaded not guilty to his death


Katrina Baur remains in the Manitowoc County Jail on $400,000 bond.

MANITOWOC – Katrina B. Baur pleaded not guilty to charges of chronic child neglect resulting in death, child neglect and obstructing an officer.

She appeared for hearing the charge in Manitowoc County District Court on the new charges Wednesday, and has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Judge Anthony Lambrecht also asked Baur to modify her bond to allow contact with her daughter. He ruled that she can only have contact with her daughter if it complies with the CHIPS order.

CHIPS hearings are held for children who are involved in court cases like Baur’s and need protection or services.

Baur’s next court appearance is scheduled for December 20 for “further consideration.” She is represented by attorney Amber Gratz, and the case is being prosecuted by Manitowoc County District Attorney Jacalyn LaBr.

Baur was arrested in February, shortly after her 3-year-old son, Elijah Wueh, was reported missing. She is charged with child neglect and obstructing an officer.

After the boy’s skeletal remains were found September 7 on private property near Two Rivers, her original case was dismissed and included in a a new casein which she was charged with chronic child neglect resulting in death, child neglect and two counts of obstructing an officer.

She is being held at the Manitowoc County Jail on $400,000 bond.

Jesse WangBaur’s boyfriend, who lives in Two Rivers, was also arrested in February after the boy went missing. He now faces one count of physical abuse of a child causing death, one count of felony concealment of a corpse and one count of felony obstruction of an officer. He is also being held in the county jail on $500,000 bond. His next court hearing is a preliminary hearing scheduled for November 6.
