Concern because Orangutan saw how roaming Indonesia

Jakarta – Frames, seemingly confused orangutan, wandering in a devastated place of the Indonesian coal mine, meters from excavators, has caused a new concern about the future critically endangered species.

The images made in January by a locals and AFP tested are from the same province on Borneo Island, where Indonesia builds its new capital, the project environmentalists fear that will threaten the place of residence of animals in the last large rain forest of Anti.

Indonesia has one of the world’s highest deforestation, product production products – a key driver, but it is also one of the only two places in the world where the orangutans are still with Malaysia.

The footage that became viral in the Indonesian social media shows that a male orangutan, which wanders on the gap of sand, imbued with white and black rocks immersed in the ground, which is still surrounded by vegetation.

“People are sometimes too greedy. I hope God does not punish us ” – read one comment on a video that has gained tens of thousands of views on YouTube and Tiktok.

The locals standing on the site with view of the site were removing a creature when it had meters from a digger, which seemed to not pay attention to its presence.

Mr Ahmad Bayhaki, who filmed the image, said that a group of locals watched the activities at the scene of the mine when they noticed the Primate.

“It was bad for me because it looked so confused,” said the 22-year-old AFP driver. “He was alone and looked lost, he didn’t know where to go, because the forest disappeared.”

The aiming took place in East Calimantan, where Indonesia builds its multibillion -dollar Nusantar capital at Breakneck.

Despite the fact that the coal mine is a nine-hour ride from the construction site, the image has resumed doubts about the state’s statements that economic activity in the province did not affect endangered animals.

Local Ecologist Mappaselle from the Balikpapan coastal group, who, like many Indonesians, uses one name, stated that personnel are clear evidence of this influence.

Orangutansk aiming “was certainly because their habitat was broken and becomes smaller,” he said.

“Our endangered wildlife could die,” he warned.

“It is a natural wealth from God to us on earth. If the wildlife is extinct, people have not been able to protect nature in our work. “

All three types of orangutane are considered critical, although the estimates of the amount left in the wild are significantly different.

Mr. Ari Vybibanto, the head of the local nature conservation agency sitting under the Ministry of Environment of Indonesia, said AFP that his officials had located a 15-year-old wild orangutan and moved it to a protected forest area after the footage appeared.

But he argued that male oranguts are naturally wandering.

“The territory is not just a mining area, there is also a farm and a residential area, and we found an orangutan on someone’s farm,” Mr Ari said, rejecting the anxiety caused by environmentalists.

“This is the nature of an adult man, he does not stay in one place, he wanders.”

AFP has identified this area as a private coal production company Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC), a subsidiary of Bumi Resources, the largest thermal coal manufacturer in Indonesia.

The Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Coal Kaltim Prima did not immediately respond to AFP’s request for comments.

Mr Bajhaki said he hopes that impressive images would help people think about the cost of destroying the environment.

“I hope we can rehabilitate our forests or at least protect our wildlife,” he said AFP. “This animal is almost extinct, you rarely see it.” AFP
