Framers also could not depict the assault rifles

February 2 – to the editor:

On January 30, Alan Forbes offered his thoughts on the 14th debate of amendments caused by the recent order of President Trump. It is noteworthy that Mr Forbes provides unnamed constitutional scientists to support his assertion that “the personnel of the 14th amendment could not predict the modern context of unauthorized immigration and simplicity of travel.”

In 1820, the US census recorded just over 9 million people in the United States. Over the next 40 years, approximately 5 million people have immigrated to the United States. It is safe to say that the personnel of the 14th amendments were quite able to imagine how the children of millions of immigrants became citizens – and we will not forget that many of them were Irish people who were hardly welcomed with outstretched arms. I assume that Mr Forbes will agree that these despised Irish migrants have been very valuable members of our society.

But more importantly, Mr. Forbes makes an exciting argument that we need to take into account the context of correction. Would he say the same about the 2D amendment? When he was added to the Constitution, the police of the citizen, using predominantly muskets, is crucial for the protection of the United States. If Mr. Forbes confesses himself consistent, he would agree that 2D amendments could not imagine a world in which Americans could buy the AR-15 and the US would have the most powerful military in the world.

If President Trump wants to change the meaning of the 14th amendment, he can start a constitutional process to change or cancel it as the ban has been abolished.

Constitution update should not be stopped with 14 amendment

February 1 – to the editor:

As the 14th Citizen amendment for birth rates for the last 69 years, I agree with Alan forbs, Chairman of the Republican Committee of Portsmouth (January 27 LTE.). Let’s really look at him to see how he fits into America of the 21st century. The amendment was ratified in 1868 to ensure citizenship and equal rights for previously enslaved people. However, the amendment was also interpreted to give citizenship to a child born not a citizen while on the basis of the United States (it would be.)

Forbes claims that the frames of the 14th amendment could not “provide the modern context of unauthorized immigration and simplicity of travel.” He states that over the last 150 years, “Imigration models change and the invention of a jet aircraft” requires a modern rethinking of the amendment. (I think he believes that it was better in the old days when Europeans who come here with a steamer.) He believes that this discussion now guarantees that “the constitution remains a living document capable of adaptation to the needs of a changing society” (his words ).

But if you think that this problem needs updating, we should also consider other outdated aspects of the Constitution. I point to the second amendment that screams in the rethinking in the light of technological progress in guns made from the moment of the emergence of muskets, which underlies the technological evaluation of the rights found of the right to wear weapons with a well -regulated police.

Letters: If the Constitution's staff could not imagine modern immigration when creating citizenship from birth in the 14th amendment, they also could not imagine a modern firearm during the development of the second amendment.

Case of Confirmation of Robert F. Kennedy -Younger

January 30 – to the editor:

“Why are all sick? How many medicines do you take? Why were everyone so thinner in the 1970s? “These are the types of questions that people ask all political stripes and beliefs, and statistics determine it. Although the US community can have strong differences on many political issues, the health care crisis is a common problem that goes beyond guerrilla acute .

Confirmation of Robert F. Kennedy -Younger as Secretary of Health and Social Services will be the first step in changing a long, terrible trend of deterioration in the health of the population. Restricting corporate influence and rooting corruption would be the central direction of his post, and Kennedy has knowledge, experience and suppression to do the job.

Mr. Kennedy eloquently and convincingly states that the epidemic of chronic illness is the result of corporate capture; That is, the excessive influence of corporate interests, such as Big Pharma and Big AG, on state policy, which leads to profit over health and well -being. He has a long, successful career of an environmental lawyer and a Crusader against corporate abuse. Its achievements include cleaning the Hudson River and victory in major claims against powerful multinational corporations such as General Electric and Monsanto. Mr. Kennedy’s statements are often derived from the context, his positions of cartoons, but he continues to fight.

The movements of the epidemic of chronic disease affect all of us and are clear to all. Mr. Kennedy has a unique opportunity for real reform.

Why do NH senators support any of the Trump Cabinet elections

January 31 – Editor:

I am amazed that many of our democratic senators (including 2 NH senators) have voted for the choice of Trump’s choice for agencies that support the functioning of the government. Almost the only fact of their resume? False loyalty to Trump. Period. O – and the ability to lie under oath. This is an important condition.

He is a president who has decided to destroy most agencies he chose his friends to lead. Therefore, we have Democrats that support the dictator and allow its agenda.

Where is their resistance? Why do they help the White Verkhovychi to achieve their goals? And Hassan and Shahin should support women -leaders, not help to get them off.

Yes – they did not support all the nominees. But my question is why any?

These loyalists have promised to do dirty work and destroy the agencies that they were responsible. They begin with the dismissal of civil servants to replace them with more frogs. This is the basis of dictatorship. Are we blind? Ignoramus? Both?

I’m amazed.

Now that we know that Dei causes aircraft crashes …

February 1 – to the editor:

Now that we know that Dei causes aircraft accidents, flatulence, hair loss, powerlessness and, apparently, brain damage, whether we can continue to be a racist country that wants us to be the present “brilliant” leader.

Let tariffs go down on us when we distribute them without looking at our neighbors and other countries we love cruelly. Let our product accounts continue to rise.

Let us lie about the distribution of condoms that come to the regions of the world we love to pursue.

Let us freeze foreign assistance to countries, which will lead to the death of their citizens as we have lost our soul.

Karma will be a bitch one day.
