The Russian Court is fining the Japanese Center in Sakhalin

The Russian court ordered the Japanese center in the Far East region of Sakhalin to pay a fine for unauthorized educational activities. It is believed that the deterioration of bilateral relations is a factor in the decree.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia stated on Friday that a check of the Japanese Center last September showed that it provides the education of Japanese without a license.

The Ministry stated that, coming from the conclusion, the court of the local magistrate ordered the director of the Center to pay a fine of $ 30,000 or about $ 306.

The Japanese government has opened centers in Moscow and five other places in Russia since 1994.

The institutions provided Japanese language courses within the framework of their duties based on memorandums signed between two governments.

However, Russia announced this month, which would cease the memorandum. He quoted Japanese sanctions imposed on Russia after its invasion of Ukraine.

Japan Consulate General in Sakhalin said NHK that the Japanese Center has not yet received a written resolution. It says he will consider the answer after reading the court’s decision.
