(Red Oak) — Authorities in Red Oak are asking for the public’s help in investigating a crash that happened Wednesday night.

The Red Oak Police Department reports that around 6:30 p.m., Red Oak Rescue and officers were dispatched to the 200 block of East Joy Street for a report of a pedestrian who had been hit by a vehicle. Authorities say the victim said he slipped on the sidewalk and fell to the roadway when the truck ran over his arm. Police say the victim allegedly had someone inside the car stop and ask if he was OK before taking off.

Authorities say a witness driving by said he saw the truck stop, causing them to pull up behind it. When the truck left, the witness said he saw the victim on the ground and helped him out of the street. The victim was evaluated by Red Oak Rescue but refused to be transported to the hospital.

Police say the only description of the vehicle is a gray or silver pickup with an unknown license plate, with no description of the driver. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Red Oak Police Department at 712-623-6500.
