STRATFORD, Conn. (WFSB) – A 17-year-old and a 13-year-old were arrested after stealing a car with a 3-year-old child in the back seat.

Police say they responded to the gas station located at Barnum Avenue and Boston Avenue today at 2:52 p.m.

The father of a 3-year-old girl reported to the police that his 2022 Hyundai was taken from a gas station, and his little one was still in the car.

A short time later, the police were told that the girl had been dropped off near the fire station 10 on Boston Avenue.

The suspects fled the fire station in a stolen Hyundai.

The law enforcement officers managed to track down the car that was driving on Route 8.

“After the vehicle came to a complete stop, the two suspects ran from the vehicle,” police said in a statement.

Two suspects, a 17-year-old boy who was driving and a 13-year-old boy who was a passenger, were later arrested.

Police say one suspect was arrested immediately after the crash, and another was later found in the Bridgeport area.

The 17-year-old was arrested and charged with kidnapping, risk of injury to a child and engaging police in a pursuit, among other charges.
