At least 70 dead after catastrophic flooding in Spain; The EU offers help

Flash flooding in southeastern Spain has killed at least 70 people and left dozens missing, the interior ministry said on Wednesday.

Torrential rain has hit the country this week. The province of Valencia was the worst affected, where floods and landslides swept away cars, roads and buildings.

“The process of search and identification of the victims begins”, local authorities said on Wednesday.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez expressed his condolences and support during a speech on Wednesday morning.
