Man found parked in turn lane charged with DWI | News

The 38-year-old man, who was found parked in the left turn lane at 1:48 a.m. Monday, was charged with misdemeanor DUI, according to a magistrate’s complaint filed in Superior Court.

Jasan Robert Persinger Santos was also charged with having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, according to the complaint.

Police spotted Santos’ Toyota Corolla parked in the left lane of Highway 4 in Sinaian. According to the complaint, the vehicle appeared to be in motion and Santos fell over the steering wheel.

When officers spoke to Santos, he had bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech. When they asked him to get out of the car, he said, “Please, sir, let me go home. I can ask someone to pick me up,” the complaint states.

When he exited the vehicle, he held on to the door frame and body of the vehicle for balance and “continued to attempt to maintain his balance as he fully exited the vehicle,” the complaint states.

He refused to take a field sobriety test, the complaint said.

According to the complaint, an open can of Michelob Ultra was found in the center console area with condensation leaking out.

Santos was arrested and released on $1,000 personal recognizance.
