A man was sentenced to life imprisonment for killing a fellow villager, ripping open his stomach

Agra: A court in Mathura sentenced a 35-year-old man to life imprisonment for the brutal murder of a villager on November 24, 2023. The district and sessions court also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on the convict.
Traffic police SHO Anand Kumar Shahi said Vishnu Singh, 32, a resident of Naugaon, was stabbed by Tarun Chand Chaturvedi of the same village over an alleged affair. His stomach was torn open by a knife blow. When Subhash, another villager, tried to take him to the hospital, Chaturvedi threatened to kill him too. After that, the attacker fled from the scene, believing him to be dead.
Later, in the district hospital, taking into account his critical condition, the doctors referred him to the medical college named after Agra. Vishnu died during treatment on December 4.
Vishnu’s brother Sardar Singh lodged a complaint against Chaturvedi at the highway police station and the accused was arrested. Subsequently, an indictment with technical evidence was sent to the court against him, and the weapon with which the crime was committed was seized.
District Government Advocate (DGC) Shivram Singh Tarkar said, “The court has convicted the accused under sections 506 (intimidation) and 302 (murder) of the IPC. In total, 10 witnesses testified during the trial… The reason for the murder was initially attributed to Vishnu’s relationship with the convict’s wife, but the woman did not testify in court.”
The DGC added, “Rejecting his plea for commutation, District Sessions Judge Ashish Garg on Friday sentenced the convict to life imprisonment.”
