These are just some of the pieces of evidence seized by the Joint Homicide Squad that led Fox and Lopez to plead guilty on Oct. 21 to the killing of a former Air India terror suspect.

Postmedia and Global TV obtained copies of the exhibits Wednesday after a joint filing with the British Columbia Supreme Court in New Westminster.

Fox and Tanner are expected to appear by video Thursday to agree on a sentencing date. When they were in court 10 days agoLopez attacked Fox, punching him in the head several times before the sheriffs dragged him away. New Westminster police are still investigating the attack.

The evidence released shows the amount of evidence gathered against the two young killers who prosecutor Matthew Stacey said were hired to shoot Malik.

“There was no prior relationship between Mr. Malik and the two offenders, Mr. Fox and Mr. Lopez,” Stacey told Judge Terence Schultes. “Mr. Fox and Mr. Lopez were hired and paid to kill Mr. Malik, and they did kill Mr. Malik.”

Fox and Lopez left a trail of evidence both before and after they shot Malik seven times outside his garment business at 8236 128th St. at about 9:24 a.m.

They were caught on surveillance camera July 13 at a friend’s rented room on 108th Avenue in Surrey. Both arrived in the Infiniti that Lopez was driving at the time. Lopez was wearing the same Nike T-shirt he was wearing the next morning at the time of the fatal shooting. Fox was caught on camera changing a car’s license plate.

The two then left to observe Malik’s business, where surveillance cameras captured them looking around the area for about 17 minutes before leaving at 3:09 p.m.

Fox was seen carrying the Puma backpack in which police later found the most incriminating evidence — the firearm used, as well as masks and gloves containing the DNA of both suspects.

It appears that preparations for the assassination have been underway for weeks. The Honda CRV in which Fox and Lopez were driving to kill Malik was stolen in Coquitlam on June 22, 2022. Its license plate was stolen from another CRV on June 23.

Around 4:00 p.m. on July 13, the killers drove in tandem to a cul-de-sac on 123rd Street in Surrey. Fox was in a stolen Honda and Lopez was in an Infiniti. They parked the CRV and drove together in the Infiniti.

On the morning of the murder, Lopez picked up Fox at his home in Abbotsford at 6:05 a.m. He was driving an Infiniti. They headed to their friend on 108th. Both were dressed in the same clothes as the day before.

Fox took the Puma backpack from the room and took it to the Infiniti at 6:45 am. They set out to complete their contract, stopping at a dead end to change cars. Lopez was driving and Fox was in the passenger seat.

They were ready for Malik at 7:10 a.m., but the 75-year-old had an early morning meeting, making him almost 90 minutes late to the office. At 8:26 a.m., Fox was seen exiting the passenger side of the CRV and walking east toward the crime scene.

Malik arrived at his business at 9:23 a.m. in his red Tesla and parked. He was killed before he got out of the car.

The killers fled in the CRV, parking it in an alley behind 8169 123rd Street before setting it on fire. They took off in the Infiniti, racing back to #108, where Fox was caught abandoning the Puma backpack.

Only 12 days later, the police searched room 108 and seized the backpack. They also searched Fox’s home in Abbotsford and Lopez’s residence in New Westminster and seized clothing each was wearing, as well as photo phones and thousands of dollars in cash.

Each killer is expected to receive life in prison without the possibility of parole for 20 years.
