Flash flooding has hit parts of Greater Hobart this evening and authorities are warning motorists to take extra care.
The sudden downpour started just after 6pm, sending water flowing across Risdon Road into the river near the football pitch.
Sandy Bay Road was also affected by the storm, with storm drains unable to cope with the large volume of water.
Pictures from the area show water gushing out of the ground and flowing across the road, coming dangerously close to local shops.
The wet weather also led to several car crashes, including one in which a car crashed into a power pole on Gordon’s Hill Road in Lindisfarne, and another in Buckland.
