16-year-old charged with manslaughter in Houston park shooting

HOUSTONA 16-year-old suspect has been charged with capital murder for his alleged involvement in the fatal shootings of a man and another 16-year-old in September.

The juvenile has not been named, but the Houston Police Department says he was arrested without incident on Tuesday.

ORIGINAL STORY: A juvenile and an adult are dead after shots were fired near Bower Pocket Park

On Sept. 12, officers were called to the scene of shots fired at 2201 Bauer Drive near Bauer Pocket Park near Kerrwood Lane around 1 p.m.

When they arrived, officers found Jaquez Moore, 24, and Derrick Ward, 16, dead.

According to HPD, Moore and two men were involved in an argument that turned into a shooting. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced Moore and Ward dead at the scene.

Investigators established robbery as the motive. Further investigation led police to identify Ward and the juvenile as suspects.
