Joe Burrow on whether Bengals should trade for help: That’s not my job

The Chiefs traded for wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and top receiver Josh Uche. The Bills traded for wide receiver Amari Cooper. The Ravens traded for wide receiver Dionte Johnson. The Vikings traded for left tackle Cam Robinson.

The trade deadline is Tuesday, so there are probably a few more deals to come.

Joe Burrow was asked about all the moves other teams have made while the Bengals remain on the trade market side.

It’s not my job” the defender said, via Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

The Bengals, who are 3-5 and three games back of the AFC North leaders, could use help at linebacker, cornerback and defensive tackle. Most likely, they won’t do anything. Again.

Burrow has a big voice in the organization and has used it in the past, including pushing for the Bengals to complete Ja’Marr Chase’s contract extension this offseason. He doesn’t sound like he’s pushing management to get outside help.

“It’s not my job,” Burrow reiterated when asked if he would like to see the Bengals make a move.

In the past 52 years, the Bengals have traded players only twice. They acquired wide receiver Charlie Joyner and linebacker Ron Pritchard in exchange for defensive ends Paul Robinson and Fred Willis in 1971, and in 2020 sent Carlos Dunlap to Seattle for a seventh-round pick and offensive guard BJ Finney.
