Montreal police: Body found in Ahuntsic-Cartierville park is 32nd homicide of the year

Montreal police say a body found Wednesday morning in an Ahuntsic-Cartierville park is being investigated as the 32nd homicide of the year.

SPVM spokesman Jean-Pierre Brabant said certain elements at the scene in the l’Île-de-la-Visitation natural park at east Boulevard Guin and rue Delisle led investigators to determine it was a homicide.

Authorities say they don’t know if the victim was male or female, and they don’t know the cause of death. An autopsy will be performed.

Maintenance staff at the park discovered the body around 10 a.m. and called 911. Police confirmed her dead at the scene.

The park remained partially open to the public as the SPVM’s Major Crimes Unit investigates.
