A high-speed chase ended with the suspect fleeing on foot and being apprehended

GRIMES COUNTY, Texas (KXXV) — Grimes County officers are investigating a man who eluded arrest on Tuesday, October 29th.

Police said they stopped the man at CR 304 and SH 249 in Plantersville. The man was driving a white SUV after he noticed his registration had expired. Refusing to get out of the SUV, the suspect drove at a speed of more than 100 km/h. That led to a multi-agency high-speed chase where the driver drove into Harris County and hit two cars.

Someone was in one of the cars at the time.

Later, two state troopers performed a ditch maneuver that allowed them to successfully stop the vehicle. The driver then exited the vehicle and fled on foot, refusing to stop; this led officers to detain the man.

The suspect continued to resist arrest.

The driver was later identified as Plantersville resident James Leo Harvey. Harvey was charged with evading arrest with a motor vehicle, a third-degree felony.
