New Delhi: A 31-year-old man has been arrested near the IGI airport in connection with the murder of a principal in Uttar Pradesh’s Bhadoha, who was shot while he was on his way to a college. The accused has been identified as Amir, a truck driver who is a resident of Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh.
Police said the murder took place on October 2 last year. Yogendra Bahadur Singh, 56, was on his way to his college in Bhadoha when two gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on his car. He died from his injuries.
Amir was identified as one of the attackers involved in the murder. UP Police announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for his capture after he was hiding in Mustafabad area. On January 9, he was trying to flee to Mumbai when he was caught.
“At 12:40 Amir was intercepted while trying to enter the airport. At first, he was evasive, but after prolonged interrogation, he confessed to his involvement in the murder,” the police said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vikram Singh said Amir revealed that he and several accomplices were hired to kill the principal as part of a revenge plan. Amir has been on the run since the crime.
