When asked about the nature of the letter and that it contained a threat to Ravi and his son, he said, “The police will investigate, it is an anonymous threatening letter, where it came from and other details will be investigated. “

According to police sources, the letter threatening Ravi’s apology is related to his alleged use of a derogatory word against Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar in the Legislative Council last month.

The letter contained a threat to harm him as well as his son if he did not apologize within 15 days, the sources said, adding that the letter, however, did not directly mention the minister’s name.

Ravi allegedly used a derogatory word against minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar in the Legislative Council on December 19 during an argument between them when the House was adjourned for some time.

He was arrested the same evening and taken in a police van from the premises of Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi, where the legislature was in session, based on a complaint by Hebbalkar.

Ravi, who denied the charges, was later released on the HC’s directive.

Asked about Ravi’s threatening letter, which allegedly demanded an apology from him to Hebbalkar, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, while addressing the media in Chikkamagaluru, called it “untrue”.

He said that Ravi had become a “great master of drama”, let him investigate it.

“I thought he was a great leader and functionary of BJP, I never expected him to stoop so low. He should have answered to his conscience for the words he used against the female minister and should have apologized immediately, instead he continued adding lie after lie, all these things (letters) are false,” he said.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said that the police and the government can find those behind the letter within an hour, they should do it immediately and punish the culprits.

According to him, Ravi’s case was “retaliated” by this government from the day the alleged incident took place and he was arrested.

Ravi, who has alleged police brutality during his arrest, recently wrote to the Governor of Karnataka requesting him to provide additional security.

The CID is investigating a case in which Ravi is accused of using abusive language against Minister Gebbalkar in the Legislative Council and a case in which unidentified persons are accused of allegedly attempting to attack Ravi at Suvarna Vidhana Sudha on December 19. .
