Louisiana State Police issued the arrest warrant in response to a Dec. 27 car crash allegedly caused by Lacey that killed a former U.S. Marine and injured two others.

According to ESPN, authorities told Lacey, 24, and his attorney that he must surrender.

Officers who responded to the crash say Lacey was driving on Louisiana Highway 20 when he began crossing the center line, driving into oncoming traffic in an attempt to pass slower vehicles.

While traveling southbound in the northbound lane, Lacey forced the driver of the pickup truck to swerve and swerve in an attempt to avoid a head-on collision.

The driver of the pickup turned right, but the other driver — the one driving the Kia — turned left and across the center line.

There, the driver collided head-on with another vehicle.

Lacey reportedly drove around the scene of the accident and then fled south. He did not stop, call emergency services or report his involvement in the accident, WAFB reports.

The passenger — ex-Marine Herman Hall — was seriously injured in the crash.

The authorities rushed the 78-year-old Hall to the hospital, but it was not possible to save his life.

On Friday, Alliance Sports, which represents Lacey, released a statement about the case.

“We are aware of the allegations made against Kyren Lacey and we want to take this opportunity to respond to them,” the statement said.

“First of all, Kairen is fully cooperating with the authorities. We firmly believe that the facts will ultimately reveal the truth, but we respect the need for a full and thorough investigation.

“We are aware of the concerns and questions that may arise in connection with these recent allegations. We want to reassure everyone who has been affected, directly or indirectly, that this matter is taken very seriously and we are committed to handling it responsibly.”

Lacy declared for the 2025 NFL Draft just two days after the accident.

“LSU has really impacted my life on and off the field over the past three years,” Lacy wrote on Instagram.

“Playing in Death Valley for the best fans in the country is an experience I will never forget. Not many people can make such a dream come true. I am forever grateful for that.

“I want to express my gratitude to all my coaches, support staff and coaches for helping me develop as a football player, but most importantly as a person. Although we fell short of our goal of winning a national championship, I promise to take all of these life lessons with me into the next chapter of my life.”

In the 2024 season, Lacy led the team in receiving touchdowns (9) and was second in both catches (58) and receptions (866).
