Bleacher Report Removes Disgusting Post After Calling Out Steph Curry

Bleacher Report has removed an offensive post from multiple social media platforms that mocked a past injury that Warriors star Steph Curry was hit with an online backlash after the 36-year-old responded with an angry comment.

In an attempt to get into the rat race during Thursday’s College Football Playoff semifinal, a sports website posted a video of Jayden Greathouse metaphorically breaking the ankles of a Penn State quarterback en route to a 54-yard touchdown. Under the coverage of Notre Dame, which served as a cheeky comparison, was one of the more infamous clips in Warriors history: Curry’s injury against the Rockets in 2016.

In Game 4 of the first round of the playoffs, Curry slipped awkwardly on the hardwood when Rockets wing Trevor Ariza hit a buzzer-beating shot to end the first half. Dubs’ bodyguard immediately grabbed his right knee and limped off the floor. Trauma called him to miss the next four games, and he was clearly not himself during that run to the ill-fated 2016 finale, blowing a 3-1 series lead.

It’s bad enough that the two plays barely looked the same, but to make matters worse, the post’s caption, “Jaden Greathouse really crossed it for a TD,” was separated by a skull emoji.

Curry wasn’t too happy with the post, commenting on Instagram: “Need clicks so bad right??” This caught the attention of Warriors fans who also joined the post. In less than three hours, posts decreased.

The Dubs star isn’t exactly known as a guy who gets angry on the internet, so getting his attention on social media is shocking in the worst possible way. Maybe next time Bleacher Report will think twice about using a player’s injury for social media hype, or at least choose a basketball crossover that actually looks like the game they’re comparing it to.
