A curfew has been imposed in Balasore to deal with encroachments and evictions

On Saturday, the Regional State Administration introduced prohibitory orders in Balasore city to facilitate eviction, liquidation of arbitrary structures and liquidation of illegal encroachments on the railway track.

The curfew will remain in force today and tomorrow from 4 am on Saturday to 10 pm on Sunday and has been announced in areas such as Arad Bazaar to Pariba Market, Haripur to Darji Pokhari Chhak, Kasimila Bridge to Fuladi Chhak and from Nuabazar Railway Gate to both sides of the road leading to Pariba Market.

Gatherings, rallies and processions are strictly prohibited during the curfew.

The city administration has issued a notice in this regard and has planned strict measures to remove encroachments in Jadupur, Aktiarpur and Bhaskarganj muzahs of Balasore. As reported, the encroachments were related to obstructing the work of the third railway line.

“The third railway line is being built, and it is a project of national importance. However, several unauthorized structures have come up in the vicinity, hampering the smooth progress of the work, for which eviction is scheduled to begin today and will continue till tomorrow,” said Sudhakar Nayak, Additional District Magistrate, Balasore.

He also stated that eviction notices were issued early and curfew orders were issued as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order.

Incidentally, the third railway line from Narayangarh to Pashim Medinipur in West Bengal to Bhadrakpassing through Balasore is being constructed to reduce traffic and improve connectivity.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishno On January 18 last year, the 18-km stretch of the Gopinathpur Nilgiri-Balasor passenger rail line was inaugurated and the expedition of railway projects in the state was announced.
