Ontario Police are investigating a complaint by Pickering City Council

Ontario Provincial Police say they are investigating criminal allegations made by Pickering City Council.

The OPP say the allegations were brought to them by Durham Regional Police in November, but have not released any details about the matter.

It comes after Pickering Mayor Kevin Ashe said the city’s integrity officer had filed a complaint with police alleging that Coun. Lisa Robinson may be aiding and abetting criminal prosecution through her involvement in the “far-right” media.

Last week, Durham Police said they were aware of the problems and the investigation was handed over to the OPP.

Ash announced last week that the city’s council east of Toronto was moving its meetings online because of alleged threats from Robinson’s supporters.

The police investigation is the latest development in an escalating conflict between Robinson and the city council that began more than a year ago.

The councilor has been embroiled in a series of controversies and is currently on her second consecutive 90-day pay suspension since September.

Robinson, who was elected in 2022, has previously denied the allegations against her.
