A woman has pleaded not guilty to a shooting involving a Washtenaw County sheriff’s deputy, ending a lawsuit

WASHTENA COUNTY, MI. Last year, a woman refused to shoot through the door after a police officer knocked on it.

On the third day of a scheduled trial, Andia Francois pleaded no contest to assault with intent to murder before Washtenaw County Circuit Judge Patrick Conlin. In December, the 28-year-old was tried on both that charge and for firing a firearm into or into a building.

A Washtenaw County sheriff’s deputy was called to her home in the 6600 block of Jackson Road in Scio Township around 6:30 a.m. on Nov. 11, 2023, police previously said.

Francois called police to report threats and intimidation because her ex-boyfriend was harassing her, police said.

When the deputy knocked on the door, Francois reportedly fired two shots at them. The shots did not hit the deputy, but hit a nearby house where four people lived.

Police said no one was injured in the shooting.

Deputies convinced the woman to surrender and took her into custody.

Francois posted her $5,000 in November 2023, according to court records. A sentencing hearing has not yet been scheduled for her.
