What we know

On Dec. 24, police were called to a laundromat near Hartwell and Broadway. According to the criminal complaint, the owner said he was watching security camera footage and saw two people “engaging in sexual intercourse” under a blanket “in full view of the cameras.” “

At one point in the video, prosecutors said the blanket slipped and Cleveland and Hill could be seen with their pants down. All the time, an unsuspecting patron sat “not far” from them.

The employee yelled at the two to leave and apologized to other customers, according to the complaint.

Cleveland was arrested on January 5. Court documents say he admitted to being at the laundromat with Hill “sometime in December” and said they were “touching” each other while waiting for clothes. However, according to the complaint, at no time did the video show the two cleaning their clothes in the laundry room.

Prehistory

In the prison lobby case, Cleveland pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was sentenced in July. Hill is due back in court for a hearing on January 15.

According to the criminal complaint filed in the case, on May 2, 2024, a sheriff’s deputy was called to the jail lobby. A warden from the prison “called to report that two people were having sex in the lobby of the prison” and Hill was still there.

The deputy managed to get a video surveillance camera of the incident, which happened around three o’clock in the morning. It showed two people in the hall, who, according to the statement, were “having sexual intercourse.”

The complaint states that the deputy contacted Hill. She said Cleveland was her boyfriend of five years and they had intended to visit the boarding house but were blocked. Then they went to the prison lobby and took a nap.

Hill admitted that she and Cleveland “had sex and that it was consensual,” the complaint states. She added that she “tried to cover them both with clothes so that no one could see them.”

When the deputy asked Cleveland about what happened, the complaint says he said, “Sex happens.” He also said he was aware of the cameras.
