Footage has surfaced of Tyreek Hill leaving Dolphins, Chargers should stay away

The Los Angeles Chargers were linked to a trade for Miami Dolphins star Tyreke Hill early and often on the eve of the off-season with large numbers of spectators.

On paper, at least for some, a trade makes sense— take Justin Herbert, one of the best weapons in the NFL, to one of the Chargers’ most needed positions, pairing him with breakout rookie Ladd McConkey to theoretically become unstoppable.

Bonus? Hill wants out of the Dolphins and made it clear.

But here’s where things get messy for the Chargers early on any talk about trade compensation etc.

Hill quit.

The Dolphins and Hill struggled to explain that fact in the days after the season ended. But footage has emerged of teammates asking Hill if he’s going to remove himself from the team’s season finale, courtesy of viewers like David Furones of Sunscreen:

One thing that comes to mind while looking at this footage and the messy aftermath for the Dolphins is that it just wouldn’t occur in Jim Garbo’s system.

It sounds silly, but the culture Harbaugh has already built is a big part of the reason the Chargers made the playoffs in the program’s “rebuild” year. That’s why fifth-round picks have been taken and enjoyed breakthroughs after earning playing time, and why a “big” free agent like DJ Chark can’t get on the field. There are many examples.

Take a huge price, likely in the second-round range, for a wide receiver who turns 31 in March and has a cap hit of approx. 28.7 million dollars next season, and it seems like this whole situation is just a little extra push to make a Hill-to-Chargers trade impossible.
