The city of Pueblo successfully managed the first night of the emergency shelter

PUEBLO — Last night marked a successful first night for the emergency shelter at 710 W 4th Street after receiving a deed from the Pueblo Rescue Mission.

According to Pueblo city officials, 30 men and 5 women received emergency shelter on the first night.

These individuals are currently receiving resources from the Pueblo Rescue Mission main campus.

The main campus currently has an average of 40 resident spaces each night.

Mayor Graham has declared a temporary housing and shelter emergency effective Tuesday, October 29th.

This state of emergency will last until Tuesday, November 5, at 7 a.m. due to the forecast of low temperatures by the National Meteorological Service of Ukraine at that time.

background:
In the fall of 2023, Pueblo City officials first approved $400,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to try to purchase the building.

The building needed major sewer work to run the emergency shelter area. The building was decommissioned from November 2023 until sewer repairs were completed in October 2024.
