K-9 car crashes with dog inside as police investigate fatal pedestrian crash

A police K-9 was unharmed after a Moorestown police car with a dog inside was hit as investigators worked to the scene of a fatal collision with a pedestrian on Highway 73 in Maple Shade late Monday night, officials said.

Moorestown police were helping to divert traffic on Route 38 after an earlier crash in the area of ​​Fox Meadow Drive and northbound Highway 73, Maple Shade police said. A Moorestown police officer was not in the vehicle, which was damaged after being hit by another vehicle.

Minutes earlier, shortly before 11:40 p.m., a pickup truck towing a trailer struck a 35-year-old Maple Shade man, police said. Two other vehicles then struck the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not released his identity, although a spokesman said none of the drivers who hit him were impaired or driving recklessly.

Each accident is under investigation.
