A man dies in a shootout with police after breaking into Laurel’s home

LAUREL, Md. — A chaotic, tragic scene captured on video in Laurel.

Dashcam footage from Nov. 30 shows Howard County police responding to an aggravated domestic violence incident.

Officers were called to a home on American Pharoah Lane after a man fired a shotgun through the front door and forced his way inside.

Officer Joseph Debronzo was the first on the scene. Most of the shots taken on the camera body are taken from his point of view.

The video begins with DeBronzo arming himself with an assault rifle and then walking into the house.

As he approaches, DeBronzo says he sees several spent shell casings on the front porch.

DeBronzo reports hearing screams and alerts dispatch, which goes inside the house.

Before entering, the suspect allegedly appears from a second-story window and begins a shootout with DeBronzo.

After the shots, a woman with a small child can be heard screaming for help.

The duplicating officer orders the woman to throw the baby out of the window into his waiting arms.

The child and the woman were safely taken out of the house.

The SWAT team later searched inside and found the suspect, Tyree Winslow, shot to death.

Police found several loaded firearms and a knife near his body.

Court documents show that a protective order was issued against Winslow back in 2017 for domestic violence in Calvert County.

The shooting remains under investigation by the Maryland Attorney General’s Office.
