A man has died following a crash involving a lorry and a car in Dumfries and Galloway.

Emergency services were called to the B7076 near its junction with the A709 Dumfries to Lockerbie Road at around 11.50pm on Tuesday following a crash involving a BMW 1 Series and an articulated lorry.

Police said the 23-year-old driver of the car died at the scene.

The truck driver, a 65-year-old man, did not require hospitalization.

Officers now want to speak to the driver of the red car, which was traveling southbound on the B7076 before the crash.

“We would appeal to anyone who was driving the B7076 at the time of the crash, who witnessed the crash or who has any information that could help. We ask that any driver who has dashcam footage contact us as soon as possible.

“We are particularly keen to speak to the driver of the red car who was traveling southbound on the B7076 prior to the crash and he may be able to assist with our investigation.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland 101 with reference to event No. 4261 of October 29.”
