Teenager pleads not guilty to stabbing aunt in Seberang Perai, bail at RM3,000

BUKIT MERTAJAM, January 7. A 14-year-old girl pleaded not guilty in the magistrates’ court today to a charge of stabbing her aunt last Friday (January 3).

The teenager is accused of intentionally causing bodily harm to his 34-year-old aunt with a knife at a flat in Jalan Prai Jaya, Seberang Perai Tengah, at 11.30am.

Under Section 324 of the Penal Code, the charge carries a prison term of up to 10 years, a fine or caning, or any two of these penalties on conviction.

During a closed process. Deputy prosecutor Zulfadzla Hasan offered bail in the amount of 5,000 malak. However, the accused’s lawyer, Muhaimin Hashim, appealed the reduction, citing that the accused is a minor and still in school.

Magistrate Mohd Harit Mohd Mazlan set bail at RM3,000 with one surety and imposed an additional condition that the accused must not contact or disturb the victim until the case is resolved.

The court also set March 20 to mention the pending forensic reports. — Bernama
