NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. (WPTA) – A police shooting in North Manchester last month has been ruled justified, the Wabash County Prosecutor’s Office announced Monday.

INFORMATION: A man was seriously injured after an hours-long barricade in North Manchester

Jacob Slocum was involved in an hours-long standoff Dec. 3 that stemmed from an alleged armed robbery at a Meijer in Fort Wayne, court records show. After leaving the store with the speaker, which he scanned as a pencil case, Slocum allegedly pulled out a handgun and pointed it at employees who tried to stop him from leaving the Lima Road store.

Officers from the Indiana State Police, Fort Wayne Police Department and North Manchester Police Department worked together to locate Slocum in a trailer in North Manchester. ISP SWAT officers worked to locate the suspect, who was armed with a handgun, in the trailer, but Slocum allegedly fired at officers.
