A member of the Rotterdam city council has pleaded not guilty to stealing a political leaflet

Member of the City Council of Rotterdam accused of stealing mail while running for state assembly pleaded not guilty Monday.

Republican Joe Mastroianni was arraigned in Schenectady City Court on a charge of petit larceny.

Last October, Mastroianni was caught on a Ring camera taking a political leaflet from his home in Rotterdam.

Mastroianni lost the election to Democratic Party member Angelo Santabarbari.

Mastroianni’s case was transferred from Rotterdam City Court after both judges recused themselves.

The hearing in the case is scheduled for January 27 at 10 am.
