Justin Whitehead, assistant chief of the Pleasantship Fire Department’s EMS unit, pleaded guilty Friday to two counts of drug theft, a department spokesman confirmed.

TRENDING STORIES:

The crimes were related to how controlled substances were handled during Whitehead’s employment with the Madison County Emergency Medical Services District, where he worked as an administrative officer.

“During the State of Ohio’s investigation of these offenses, a further investigation and audit was conducted at the Pleasant Township Fire Department to determine if anything was occurring there as well, without finding any criminal activity related to Mr. Whitehead in Pleasant Township,” ., said Christopher Schultz, public information officer for the Pleasant City Fire Department.

After consulting with the Clark County District Attorney’s Office, there was no impact on Whitehead’s employment status in Pleasant Township during the trial. He continued to perform command duties but did not participate in unsupervised direct patient care or unit-wide training.

Following his request, the Pleasant Township Fire Department and the Pleasant Township Board of Trustees are “now engaged in taking appropriate action regarding” Whiteheads’ service with the department.
