Motorcyclist killed in Arlington Heights crash; A 16-year-old driver was charged with a traffic violation

A motorcyclist died as a result of the accident Arlington Heights Tuesday evening.

According to preliminary police reports, the 16-year-old driver of a blue 2010 Genesis coupe was eastbound on Northwest Highway approaching Waterman Avenue. Meanwhile, a red 2017 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a silver 2020 Hyundai Elantra were traveling west, also approaching the intersection.

The driver of the Genesis attempted to make a left turn, colliding with both the motorcycle and the Hyundai.

When rescuers arrived at the scene, they found the motorcyclist unresponsive, and he died at the scene. The identity of the motorcyclist has not yet been released.

The teenage driver was accused of failing to yield the right of way during a left turn and failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision.

The court hearing is scheduled for November 21.

The authorities confirmed that alcohol and drug intoxication did not cause the accident.

The Arlington Heights Police Department and Major Case Assistance Team’s Major Crash Unit are investigating the incident.
