Three people were seriously injured early Tuesday in a crash during a police chase in Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (WIBW) – Three people were seriously injured in a crash that occurred during a police chase Tuesday morning in Wichita, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 3:48 a.m. Tuesday near E. Kellogg and Washington streets on the southeast edge of downtown Wichita.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2007 Pontiac G6 was westbound on Kellogg as it was being actively pursued by a Wichita police unit.

The Pontiac attempted to exit onto Washington Street, but failed to negotiate the curve, went through the grass and struck an embankment, troopers said.

The Pontiac then overturned, ejecting the driver and one of the two passengers.

All three occupants of the Pontiac were taken to Via Christi St. Hospital. Francis in Wichita with serious injuries.

They were identified as the driver, Samuel W. Freeman, 59, of Medicine Lodge; and passengers Nicholas E. Bolson, 29, of Wichita, and Hope Lynn Clark, 34, of Wichita.
