A man and a woman have died in a double homicide in Plum Orchard, according to the NOPD

A man and a woman were fatally shot in the Plum Orchard neighborhood Wednesday night, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

Officers received a call at 1:11 a.m. about a shooting in the 4700 block of Lane Avenue, where they found a man and a woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

The murder was initially investigated as an aggravated shooting, but was reclassified as a double homicide after further investigation. The police did not specify when they arrived at the call.

No other information, including a possible suspect or potential motive, was immediately available. The double homicide investigation is ongoing.
