Bill Haney sees Devin Haney v Jack Catterall in the UK

Bill Haney says he wants to do something for the British fans, so he wants Devin Haney to fight Jack Ketterle in the UK and not in the US. He wouldn’t say whether Turki Alalshikh would need to be paid for the fight, because if Ketterle’s promoter Eddie Hearn can’t provide the money Haynie (31-0, 15 KOs) would likely want, he might not get it.

With Teofimo Lopez unbeaten despite being the WBO welterweight champion since 2023, this fight is likely to be the biggest Catterall can make at 140.

Haney and Bill’s desire to fight Catterall is apparently motivated by his lack of attacking ability, poor work and defensive behavior in attack. They know he’s an easy target and he didn’t look impressive in his match against Regis Progress last Saturday night.

“Who else is better than Catterall? We’re not talking about Jack here. We say Jack in the UK, in his hometown, where everyone believes in him, is what we think is interesting,” Bill Haney said in media reports.

As we saw last Saturday when he faced Regis Progress, Catterall is a very winnable fight, so you can’t blame Haney and Bill for focusing on him. When attacked, Catherall appears indecisive and lacking in killer instinct. He was running around the ring when Prograys attacked him.

“This is an opportunity to go and fight in Great Britain. It’s not a feat for the faint of heart as Devin, being the A champion in America, goes to Australia, goes to the UK. I think the fight against Ketterle at 140 keeps us in line for Teofimo Lopez or any of the champions at 140,” Haney said.

If Catherall was the death blow, I doubt Haney and Bill would want to hang out with him. This has more to do with Haney’s desire to exploit Ketterle’s weakness.

It is hard to accept that Bill is acting selflessly despite his dedication and desire to help his British followers. Haynie’s fame will increase if he defeats Ketterle in front of big crowds in the UK, where there is money to be made from huge crowds.
